POWER PACKER (#13) - ETERNITY REVEALED

www.powerpackerzine.com

Quick: name the most underappreciated sub-genre in Metal; the one guaranteed to make the causal
follower run in horror and the most fervent fanatic happy at the sight of another album to fill his or her
collection. Trust me: it’s a style that will never deliver a hit song; will never win you a popularity contest,
yet over the course of its 35 year plus development probably has more classic efforts per band than any
other Metal sub-genre. Give up? Then doom on with Pale Divine…

This trio hails from Pennsylvania; a group that mix slight hints of Sabbath, a lethal dose of Trouble, and vocally
recall the better melodies of Glen Danzig, if he ever wanted to think outside the box with Robert Lowe.
Unafraid to move beyond mid-tempo, my jaws dropped at the quick triplet action and wah wah enhanced guitar
riffing that carries
a song like ‘Sins of the Fallen.’ And then the band follows up with spirited fist bangers like
‘Blind Faith’ and closing cover ‘Solitude’ (Candlemass rules all…). What I love about this album in particular
would be the dynamics contained within; I’ve rarely heard a band that from song to song can stay mid-tempo
or slower while achieving individuality from track to track; a testament to Pale Divine’s drive for putting a new
twist on the genre.

While awaiting the next Trouble studio offering, invest in Pale Divine—I assure you a pleasant aural experience.
Gritty, grimy… feel the dirt under your fingernails and allow mind expansion as the gloom
envelops you.

Favorite Song: ‘Serpents Path.’
